Which is the best career to study in El Salvador?

Hello everyone! Welcome to my blog, again. In this opportunity I am going to write some ideas about “life plans”, specifically about what’s the best career for you or for me?

Well, in my own opinion, we must think about which fields are the best match for us. I mean, we must check all the activities we like to do. For example: if you love write songs, your field would be Arts; if you like to repair furniture, the field is craft; if you prefer manage a department of a large business corporation, you must be a businessman; and if you like to help couples with marriage problems, you are going to be a social work. Also, we have to think if we want to enjoy our work or if we want to get a lot of money.

But, there are some other things, such as: our own physical and mental capacity, the family, culture, economic position, religion, and so on, in which we must think, too.  Of course, everybody knows that the career you choose as the best one, probably it will be the worst one for another person. Let’s see a very common example in the real life:

“My cousin, George Jr., wanted to fly a big airplane; I mean he wanted to study to become a pilot. But my uncle George, who is a pretty good taxi driver, thought that career was too much dangerous for Jr. and also they didn’t have enough money. Finally, Jr. settled on social work, he is a lawyer. By the way, he is one of the best ones and also he has his own Lawyer’s buffet.”

Did you see the father’s influence on his son? As you can imagine it happens in almost of the families in El Salvador with the difference that in the rest of the families the sons or daughters don’t have the same lucky, they don’t find a good job as George Jr. did.

Finally, you and I must be honest with ourselves. Let’s say in El Salvador the best major is the ones make you get a lot of money. And this is: “Civil Mining Engineering” Why? Because they are getting $1.962.857 per each year. Even I know I’m not going to get a lot of money working as a teacher I can´t wait to teach the one I am learning. 

Natural Disasters... Are we prepared to attend emergencies?

Which is the country that is best prepared to attend emergencies caused by natural disasters?

Considering that natural disasters are those natural events which cause several damages to the animals, plants, buildings, humans... physical, economic, and socially; I wonder if you answer me something: are you, your family or your country prepared to attend an emergency caused by natural disasters? 

Well I have two reasons to think that we are not ready to attend it: the first one is because we are humans, and the second one is because we cannot control the Natural Disasters, I mean we can't control our Mother Nature. But, being honest I thing there are some countries which are better prepared to attend emergencies caused by natural disasters than others. Let's see:

Have you ever listened about “The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse”? (Conquest, War, Famine/Pestilence/Drought/Mass Starvation, and Death). Examples of the devastation caused by such disasters abound in every region of the world: The recent triple disaster — earthquake, tsunami and nuclear meltdown — that hit Japan’s Tohoku region on 11 March 2011 has already claimed 12,000 lives, with a further 16,000 still missing. This is the worst catastrophe in Japan since the Hanshin Earthquake (known as the Kobe Earthquake outside of Japan) claimed over 6,000 lives in 1995.

Also, in recent years, major earthquakes in Haiti, Chile, New Zealand and China, unprecedented floods in Pakistan, a hurricane in Myanmar and the Indian Ocean tsunami of December 2004 have killed thousands or even hundreds of thousands. For those that survived, these natural disasters devastated their immediate communities and livelihoods, leading to catastrophic suffering, misery and humanitarian crises.  In addition to famine and drought, these recent natural disasters have left in their wake complex questions about the challenges of ensuring human security and realizing the right to health in emergencies.

  

So, if we want to know "Which is the country that is best prepared to attend emergencies caused by natural disasters?", we must think if, “Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family, including food, clothing, housing, and medical care and necessary social services, and the right to security in the event of unemployment, sickness, disability, widowhood, old age or other lack of livelihood in circumstances beyond his control.” As the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948) said.

It means that the country which is better prepared than the other one should facilitate access to essential health facilities, goods and services in other countries, wherever possible and provide the necessary aid when required.
